The Kansas Division of Vehicles is working on the statewide DMV Modernization Project to update the current system that is over 20 years old. A key element of a successful implementation is the conversion of data from the old to the new system.

Each time an individual visits the motor vehicle office to do title or registration processing they will be required to show their Kansas driver's license. If the vehicle is owned by a business, the business should show their FEIN documents. The name on the title will appear as it is on the driver license or FEIN documents.

The Kansas Department of Revenue will suspend issuing the Ad Astra plate beginning with April renewals. Residents will still receive a 2010 sticker to be placed on their old plate. The State began delivering the Ad Astra plate in January 2009 to replace the Capital plate originally issued in 2001. The suspension is an effort to reduce unnecessary expenditures by the State of Kansas. Consequently, the delay will also save Johnson County postage, handling fees and labor costs resulting in an estimated savings of about two-hundred thousand dollars.

The County Treasurer would like to raise awareness and help departments
detect counterfeit currency. With improved technology there is the potential for
the number of cases of counterfeit currency to grow. Please be aware that
when a counterfeit bill is accepted and deposited it will result in a loss to the
department accepting the bill.
