About the Office

The Johnson County Treasurer's Office by Kansas State law is responsible for the tax billing, collection and distribution of tax money for the State, County, Cities and all other taxing entities that levy Ad Valorem and/or special assessment taxes.

The Treasurer is also responsible for all other moneys belonging to Johnson County and/or directed by law to be paid to the Treasurer.

Miles for Meals 5k Run/Walk - 3/25/2008

Please join us for the First Annual Feed the Need 5K Run/Walk on Saturday June 28th, 2008 at 8:00 am at Heritage Park in Olathe, KS.  The proceeds from this event will go to support local food pantries.  Registration for the race will be $20, and will include a t-shirt for all early entrants.  Registration will be available this spring.

Division of Motor Vehicles 1st Quarter Newsletter - 1/9/2008

In order to better communicate with you, our customer, we plan to publish a quarterly newsletter. This newsletter will be available both online and at our motor vehicle locations.  The purpose of this newsletter is to provide specialized information to you regarding motor vehicle or motor vehicle related operations and services.

2007 Tax Statements Have New Design - 11/7/2007

November 19th the Treasurer’s Office will begin mailing out over 190,000 Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Statements. The Real Estate Tax Statement contains the information mailer and the bill information. If taxes are paid by a mortgage company, the bill will say “not a tax bill”. The first half tax payments are due on or before December 20, 2007. The second half tax payments are due on or before May 10, 2008.

You can pay your taxes, view your detailed account information, view prior tax years, view payment history, print a tax statement, and now print a tax receipt through our website. If you would prefer to receive your tax receipt by mail, you must put an “X” in the designated box on your remittance slip at the bottom of your tax statement. If you do not mark the box, a receipt will not be mailed to you. Your online receipt can be accessed anytime after your payment has posted. Please allow three business days for your account to update online.
 

2006 Delinquent Real Estate Published - 8/21/2007

All 2006 Real Estate taxes that were unpaid as of August 1,2007 will be published by Sun Publications on the following dates:  August 16th, 23rd, and 30th, as prescribed by Kansas Statute 79-2303.

New Website Features - 8/21/2007

Print your Tax Receipt online. Click on View/Pay Tax Bill, read the disclaimer, and search for your real estate or personal property account using the different search criteria fields. Click on your account to view the details, and then click on the "View eReceipt" button for each payment made in the payment history section. You can print or save this receipt for your records.

Change your address online. Click on Change Your Address to access the request form. Then choose either Real Estate or Personal Property as your property type, and enter your property number from your tax statement. Continue to fill out the form with both your old and your new address information. Use the comments section to add any additional details.
